HAM

GOT THE URGE TO DRAW AFTER BEING SO INSPIRED BY MY SUPER INSPIRATIONAL LAST POST.

Going to try and animate a 9 second sound clip in the same vein as the studio I'm currently freelancing at. Figure if anything it'll be good practice, get something new going for my reel.

~INSPIRATION~

Haven't been drawing much outside of work lately, so thought I'd post THIS LITTLE GEM (stolen from Shane Glines' Cartoon Retro).

So yeah, no big surprises here, I guess.

MAD MEN

Been watching a lot of Mad Men lately, thanks to my brother! The whole look of the show is so stylized in itself, have been itching to draw some of the characters for a while now. Figured I'd start with Joan, just cause she's mad curvy and more interesting to draw than everyone else.

Still need to catch up on Season 3 before the 25th, WISH ME LUCK, Y'ALL.

LONG TIME, NO UPDATE, HOT DAYUM.

Haven't been doing much sketching on my own lately, so just wanted to post some stuff I've worked on over the past few months. These are all character designs I did that weren't chosen for their respective projects, wish I could share the ones that were more successful, BUT THESE WILL DO FOR NOW:

senior show aftermath

So the Senior Show was a big success. I still can't get over the positive reactions I got from the audience. Was honestly not expecting that at all, considering every time I'd show my progress for group crit no one would laugh. It really meant a lot to hear that my stuff was so well received, definitely a huge confidence booster.

Thank you to everyone who went last night, can't thank friends and family enough for all of their support. The whole day was just so surreal, thanks again for all the kind words :)

AIB SENIOR ANIMATION SHOW

So the annual Senior Animation Show is just about 2 weeks away. TERRIFYING.

It'll be at the Brattle Theatre on May 13th from 3-5 pm, AND IT'S FREE, SO IF YOU HAVE THE MEANS, YOU SHOULD COME.

There's an after party following the screening at 601 Newbury in the Animation Basement starting around 7. THERE WILL BE BOOZE. And food..most likely just cheese. And apparently the after party is ~Jail House~ themed, so here's a caricature of myself I did for a prison line-up poster.

kick-ass

Almost done with backgrounds.

Haven't really drawn anything non-school/internship related in a while, so here's something quick I did today after seeing Kick-Ass. It wasn't cinematic gold or anything, but it was still entertaining. If anything, go see it for Hit Girl.

BAD. ASS.

Long time, no update, so here it goes. Animation for this piece is complete, aiming to finish backgrounds this weekend.

first background

Started on them today, SO EXCITING.

Backgrounds are not my thing at all, we'll see how this goes.

SPRING BREAK, WOOOOOOOO~

Finished 2 more scenes before heading home, including this one:

The other one kind of gives away the ending, don't want to post any ~spoilers~.

But yeah, this break has not been as productive as I'd hoped. I don't know if it's because I'm out of the city or what, but I've definitely lost some steam on this thing. I was doing good schedule-wise, but now I'm a bit behind again. I know I would've gotten more done if I'd just stayed in Cambridge, but whatevs, I'm grateful to have had some down time.

After this scene, I think there are 4 left with very minimal animation. I created a bunch of textures for backgrounds today, will scan them tomorrow.

knork

UPDATE!

Just about half-way done with scene 1, the last scene with a fair amount of animation. We're presenting our stuff for the first time this semester on Wednesday, so ideally all scenes will be animated by then. After that, I'll just focus on making/plugging in backgrounds, then sound. Theoretically this project will be 100% complete by March 16th, and if it gets done sooner, even better.

scene 12: run

LAST RUN CYCLE = COMPLETE

He's barely on-screen during the actual animation, so I'll give him some ~time to shine~ up here.

scene 10

Didn't realize I took a cap with the V-Cam, but whatevs, now's a good chance to mention it. I downloaded it here, and it's been pretty helpful with making scenes a bit more dynamic. I haven't used it for zooms or tint changes, but it definitely helped make panning/camera jitters a hell of a lot easier.

But yay, two more fairly extensive scenes left, then I'm onto the quick stuff.

scene 6

Another scene all set, even though it's pretty much just one giant short-cut.

CARRY ON.

happy anna howard shaw day

These caps aren't very exciting, but I had a pretty productive weekend, so here's an update. Still behind, but slowly catching up to where I should be. The top scene is all set, the second is only half-done, still have no idea how I want to animate the rest. 2 out of 3 scenes that involve running, glad they're almost all out of the way.

SNOW DAY MINUS SNOW

DOOOOOOOOOOOONE.

And I already effed up schedule-wise, so hopefully I can catch up over the weekend.

kitty half-time show

STILL NOT FINISHED WITH THIS SCENE :(

About 3/4 of the way there.

Also got started on two other scenes, cleaned up half of one. Really trying hard to stick to the schedule I made. I wish I would've done this last semester D:

color

Just a few color comps for the characters. The guy's supposed to be a loser, the girls are meant to be way out of his league, so I'm using the cool vs. warm colors to try and sell this. I'M SO ORIGINAL, THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.

Here's part of the first scene I'm working on. It's one of the longest, so hopefully the animation for this one will be out of the way relatively soon. Just an example of what a "cleaned up" character will look like:

maya rhymes with ~sanjaya~

Model sheet for ~Maya II~. I still might change it before class, I don't know.

And first day of Senior Animation Projects today D: Even though I'm so close to being done with the animation from my last project (never quite got around to finishing it over break :\), I really want to try and get a jump start on my next short. I feel like I've learned so much at my internship for only being there a pretty short amount of time, and I'm really pumped to apply what I've learned to my own work. Hopefully I'm not digging a hole for myself by doing this, but I think I'll be okay.

conebone69

A quick drawing to represent my current attitude towards NBC.

The way things are going now, if it wasn't for 30 Rock, NBC and I would be effin' done professionally.

hax

Just some sketches to try and get a feel of how I want the characters to look for my next short. I originally planned for them to all have beady eyes like the guy up there, but the girls' faces ended up looking too similar. I still like him better with those eyes, so I'm not sure which direction to go.
